Buying & Merchandising
I have worked in retail and visual merchandising for over 12+ years, I have a degree in Fashion Merchandising and Management, and I have attended 20+ trade shows during my career.
Buying is all about having the right products, at the right place, at the right price, at the right time. Merchandising is the planning and promoting of sales by presenting the right products.
Bringing together buying and merchandising is the ideal sweet spot, that is where fashion meets art and science.
Being responsible for selecting and ordering what is sold in stores and properly merchandising it to ensure maximum profit is one of my greatest passions.
Planning & Purchasing
Being a buyer can seem like fun and glamour. However, many don’t realize the work can become meticulous, tedious, and time consuming.
That’s where I can offer my expertise — developing, leading and executing purchasing strategies.
As a buyer I…
Manage the company’s purchasing activities for all of the store’s merchandise.
Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
Source and purchase new products.
Check the popularity and movement of those already on the shelves.
Forecast price trends.
Monitor the global supply chain, and report on its impact on future activities.
Analyze consumer buying patterns and predict future trends.
Conduct research to ascertain the best suppliers providing the best quality products with the best value, and timely delivery schedules.
Create reports about market analysis and possible growth, regularly reviewing performance indicators, such as sales and discount levels.
Maintain excellent communication and vendor relations.
Attend trade shows in the US to select new collections of products.
Assist in developing more effective invoicing and collection processes.
Management of pricing and sku numbers of all merchandise and inputting into the retail systems.
Visual Merchandising
In today's retail climate, unique and memorable storytelling is a critical part of a brand’s expression, online and in-store. Visual Merchandising is retail’s version of storytelling. It’s the functional and theatrical arrangement of products. It’s an incredibly powerful tool that attracts, engages, inspires, and motivates customers to fall in love with your products and your brand. It ultimately drives purchases. Visual Merchandising plays to our own instinctive responses and emotional drivers around color, scale, shape, symmetry, repetition, and pattern.
I am an innovative visual merchandiser that generates sales through creative retail displays which capture buyers’ attention. The goal is to provide an excellent in-store experience. I employ visual merchandising principles to convert window shoppers into customers.
I drive branding and sales objectives in order to maximize profitability by:
Ensuring the strategy is in line with the store’s brand, products, and target market.
Generating designs and creating detailed floor plans for display areas.
Sourcing the props, creative materials, and accessories for displays.'
Installing and setting up window displays, walkways, counters, and in-store displays.
Changing displays to promote new product launches or to reflect festive or seasonal themes.
Ensuring uniformity of displays across multiple store locations.
Monitoring costs and working within budget.
Researching lifestyle and design trends which support the visual merchandising strategy.
